Experience and Credentials
Defending clients at every level of the court system, Mr. Bussard has represented literally hundreds of cases Federal Courts including those before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States District Court. Mr. Bussard has represented defendants asserting their rights on constitutional grounds, advocating against illegal search and seizures, defending his clients against criminal conspiracy charges, Racketeering (RICO), money laundering, federal drug charges, and financial improprieties.
Mr. Bussard also represents persons charged with criminal and serious traffic offenses in both the District and Circuit Courts throughout the State of Maryland.
Mr. Bussard is active with bar associations on both a local and state level.
He has been a member of the Baltimore County Bar Association since 1982 and is a former President of the Association. He also served as a member of the Executive Council of the Baltimore County Bar Association and Past Chair of the Lawyer Referral Service Committee, Continuing Legal Education Committee and Law Day Committee of the Baltimore County Bar Association.
As a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Mr. Bussard has served on the Board of Governors for three terms and was twice selected to serve on the Executive Committee. He has been Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Practice Section and the Judicial Appointments Committee.
He has worked for more than 30 years in State and Federal courts defending people accused of crimes. In that time I have handled a number of high-profile cases in Maryland and Arizona.
Mr. Bussard practices both Federal and State criminal law and has been consistently selected by his peers as one of Maryland’s Super Lawyers. In May, 2014, Mr. Bussard received the prestigious John Adams Award from the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
A native of Maryland, he graduated with honors from George Mason University School of Law. He established my own law practice in 1982. People have described Mr. Bussard as a "lawyers' lawyer," having represented a number of attorneys and a judge over his career.
Mr. Bussard’s practice in State Court and Federal Court has resulted in numerous acquittals, dismissals, and favorable plea bargains for thousands of clients.
Mr. Bussard has appeared in hundreds of complex cases involving federal Racketeering (RICO), federal drug conspiracies, money laundering, and wire fraud.
Mr. Bussard has successfully represented a number of individuals charged with white collar offenses involving allegations of fraudulent lending practices, tax liability offenses, and fraudulent mortgage conduct.
Mr. Bussard has represented thousands of clients charged with State offenses ranging from First Degree Murder to serious traffic offenses such as DUI.
Mr. Bussard has appeared in oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, and successfully represented an individual before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Bussard also represents individuals charged with violations of professional conduct before the Maryland Dental Board, Maryland Board of Pharmacy, and Maryland Board of Physical Therapists.
